The European Technical Caramel Association (EUTECA) has represented the caramel colour industry in the EU since 1985.
Over the years, EUTECA’s mission is to improve general knowledge about caramel colour and its benefits, and to deliver factual information about caramel colour to European authorities and the general public.
Since its onset, EUTECA has closely followed legislative developments affecting Caramel Colour at the EU level and in other international bodies such as the Codex Alimentarius.
Moreover, EUTECA provides a forum for its members to discuss and exchange information about technical and scientific matters of common interest which affect or might affect the production or use of Caramel Colour.
EUTECA is a member of EU Specialty Food Ingredients and maintains a liaison with other trade associations such as the International Technical Caramel Association (ITCA) and FoodDrinkEurope.

The “ Spezialzucker-Raffinerie Lage GmbH & Co. Betriebs-KG” is a production plant of the shareholder Pfeifer & Langen GmbH & Co. KG, Cologne and the Zuckerhandelsunion GmbH, Berlin. In 1975, the plant was built to produce about 80,000 t of liquid sugars. That means the production of dissolved sucrose, invert sugar syrup and mixed syrup.In 1985, the production of burnt sugar and caramel color went into operation. The dissolved sucrose, the invert sugar syrup and the burnt sugar are available in organic quality. 20 employees work throughout the year.

The SYFIC is the French Caramel Ingredients association. Formely called « the French caramel colours association “SFFCC” », the association becomes in 2018 “SYFIC” to include all the ingredients caramels : caramel colours, aromatic caramels, burnt sugars, and caramel specialities. Its membership comprises the manufacturers of caramel ingredients located in France : METAROM NIGAY PECNER SETHNESS‐ROQUETTE. Caramel ingredients users can also become SYFIC members. SYFIC is a member of USIPA, the French starch producers association.
